A sharp rise in traffic offences since 2020
Neuchâtel, 15.06.2026 — In 2025, 22 957 sentences were handed to minors, a figure that remained stable compared with the previous year. Since 2020, there has been a marked increase in traffic offences, while offences under the Narcotics Act have fallen sharply. Over the same period, the number of sentences under the Swiss Criminal Code has remained stable. The number of out-of-home placements and the duration of detention sentences have continued to rise. These are some of the latest results published by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
