Silver coin «St. Nicholas»

The traditional festival of St. Nicholas is fast approaching, and in Switzerland, particularly in Fribourg and Central Switzerland, as well as in many towns and villages, this celebration takes on a very special magic. This year, Swissmint is honoured to present a special coin to mark this time-honoured tradition.

On the obverse, St. Nicholas is depicted in red (in colour only in proof quality) with his mitre and crosier, surrounded by landscapes recalling his history and influence on Swiss culture. The reverse of the coin shows the back of St. Nicholas accompanied by a child walking hand in hand through a village. The special St Nicholas coin is much more than a collector's item; it embodies a precious heritage that has been handed down from generation to generation.

The special coin St. Nicholas is made of 999 silver and weighs 20g. The face value of CHF 20 is shown on the reverse. The coin is issued in a mintage of 5’800 pieces in the quality «Proof» in colour in presentation case, as well as 200 pieces «Proof» in colour in presentation case with certificate from the artiste and 7’500 pieces uncirculated in the blister.
