Switzerland's tourism balance of payments in 2023 - Tourism expenditure in Switzerland and abroad continued to grow in 2023

Neuchâtel, 28.6.2024 - Tourism expenditure in Switzerland and abroad continued to grow in 2023, surpassing the previous record levels of 2019. Revenue (foreign visitors in Switzerland) as reported in the tourism balance of payments increased to CHF 18.4 billion. This was 12.4% greater than the level seen in 2022. At the same time, expenditure (Swiss residents travelling abroad) rose by 11.9% to CHF 20.2 billion. Finally, the net tourism balance of payments was CHF ‒1.8 billion, according to initial estimates from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
