Swiss National Accounts 2023 - GDP growth slowed in 2023

Neuchâtel, 27.8.2024 - Switzerland's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.7% in 2023 at the previous year’s prices. The slowdown in growth (+3.0% in 2022) was related to a return to normality following the COVID-19 pandemic. The difficult international context also weighed down on foreign demand. Gross national income (GNI) at current prices rose 1.2% following a slight decrease in the balance of income with the rest of the world. These initial estimates for 2023 from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) are accompanied by a revision of GDP growth in 2021 and 2022 at previous year's prices, which are now set at 5.6% instead of 5.4% and 3.0% instead of 2.6%, respectively.
